If you want to grow as a person, here are 5 of the best ways to do so!

Let's get right into it!

1) Try to understand people more and judge less

People can be so quick to form judgements without having all the facts. What often happens is that we jump to a conclusion that is so incorrect we may even end up offending the other person.

Remember: he who is without sin may cast the first stone.

2) Be able to delay gratification

This is a hugely important one. People often get caught up in what can give them pleasure right now rather than what would make them happy in the long-run. This is very much short-term thinking. A sign of growth and maturity is being able to delay gratification or satisfaction for something more important.

"Discipline is choosing between what you want now and what you want most" - Abraham Lincoln

3) Choose reflection over reaction

When someone says or does something that you don’t necessarily like or agree with, try to not immediately react. Instead, choose to reflect first. In the moment, emotions can get high and they can cloud our judgement. Take time to digest it and reflect on it so rather than an emotionally charged reaction, you can offer a more level-headed and mature response.

4) Listen more

When in conversation, listen to receive, not to respond. Actually hear what they are saying, try to actively absorb the information the other person is offering you. How can you expect the other person to really take in what you’re saying if you’re not doing the same for them?

5) Seek to serve, not be served

This is HUGE. Rather than wandering through life with the attitude of what’s in it for me, what can they do for me, what can I get from it, etc… adopt a new mindset of: what can I offer, what value can I add, how can I be of service, how can I better the world and people around me?

There you have it, 5 ways to grow as a person!

All the best,

Danielle
