Are you ready to transform your mind, throw your limiting beliefs and preconceptions out the window, and move into a healthier, more fulfilling and productive next chapter of your life?
Here are 4 books that I’ve personally read that have the potential to change your life….you just need to be willing and open-minded.
Book 1: The Alchemist (by Paulo Coelho)
No wonder this is an international bestseller, this book is one of my favourite books that can change your perspective on life. It is the inspiring story of a young Andalusian shepherd boy from Spain who travels the world in search of a treasure, meeting various fascinating characters along the way. This enchanting novel emphasises faith, hope, love, and courage while perfectly exemplifying that the journey to our destination is where we discover who we are and what we truly desire. Packed with wisdom from cover to cover, this global phenomenon is a testament to the power and importance of following your dreams and listening to your heart along the way.
“His books have had a life-enhancing impact on millions of people” - The Times
Book 2: Who Moved My Cheese? (by Dr Spencer Johnson)
Another bestseller, Who Moved My Cheese? is a simple, yet amusing, parable that uncovers profound insights and wisdom about how to deal with change in your life – applicable to every reader.
The short and easy-to-ready story follows four characters who are searching for their cheese in a maze – cheese is used as a metaphor for what you want in life (e.g. happy relationship, good job, money, peace of mind etc.). Dr Johnson effectively and concisely shows you how to anticipate change and how to best deal with change so that rather than being stressful, you can actually enjoy it.
“The quicker you let go of old cheese, the sooner you find new cheese” - from Who Moved My Cheese?
Book 3: The Chimp Paradox (by Prof Steve Peters)
The Chimp Paradox is a much more substantial read than the previous two books mentioned as it is packed with extensive and in-depth material about mind management. Peters provides a comprehensive mind model that will enable you to better understand how your mind works, how to manage your emotions and thoughts, and essentially manage yourself so you can become the best version of you that you can be.
If you implement the mind management tools provided in this book you will position yourself to welcome confidence, happiness, and success into your life – whether personal or professional.
If you want a book that goes deeper into the nitty gritty and the how-to, then this book is definitely for you.
“The mind programme that helped me win my Olympic Golds” - Sir Chris Hoy
Book 4: Thinking, Fast and Slow (by Daniel Kahneman)
Nobel Prize Winner and bestselling author Daniel Kahneman takes us on a tour of how our minds work with direct reference to the two systems that operate our thinking. System 1 is fast and intuitive thinking with little to no conscious effort; system 2 is more slow, analytical and deliberate. This simple yet intellectually stimulating book exposes the common everyday flaws and misjudgements in our fast thinking, and reveals how engaging in slower and more deliberate thinking can lead to better decision-making.
Kahneman offers profound insights into when we should listen to our intuitions, how to be aware of cognitive biases, and essentially how to use our thinking to better serve us and those around us.
“It is an astonishingly rich book: lucid, profound, full of intellectual surprises and self-help value" - The NY Times
Well, there you have it! 4 books that can change your life....if you let them :)
All the best,
Danielle
